Grant programs in New Jersey aim to improve learning

According to the Madison Eagle, a daily newspaper in New Jersey, the Madison Education Foundation recently approved 21 educational grants totaling almost $40,000, which are designed to arm teachers with the tools and technologies they need to make school interesting for students.

"Madison’s students are going to benefit from the surge of creativity we have seen from teachers who are intent on invigorating the learning process," Anne Hargrave, founder of Anne Hargrave Fine ART, told the paper. "We have also funded a number of technology initiatives on a pilot basis, which will provide us - and the district - with critical information before making costly purchases on a broader scale."

Some of the projects funded by the Madison Foundation Foundation grants include Skype author visits, expanded book collections and musical theater workshops, reported the paper.

According to the Jersey Journal, another grant program was recently put in place in an effort to improve education for children. The Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center received a grant from the New Jersey Parent Information and Resource Center, which helps young children improve their math skills.
