Survey shows teachers want more access to technology in the classroom
A recent national survey of teachers ranging from preschool through high school conducted by PBS LearningMedia has found only 22 percent of teachers believe they have the right technology in their classrooms, while 91 percent have access to computers in their classrooms.
The main problem in having these classroom resources is funding, with 63 percent of respondents saying their budget is the biggest roadblock to having the right technology in their classrooms.
"It's clear most teachers are embracing technology and need more resources, and PBS is committed to offering innovative tools and resources to support learning in classrooms across America," said Rob Lippincott, senior vice president for PBS Education.
The survey also found 59 percent of teachers claim to have access to an interactive whiteboard, while 93 percent believe they can improve classroom education and 81 percent said tablets can be used to increase the quality of learning.
An interactive whiteboard that is able to meet the needs of many teachers across the county is the Splashtop Whiteboard, which recently added 30 new digital flipchart worksheets.
